Description :	Cloche en bronze montée sur un joug en fer. Battant absent. Marteau de tintement extérieur électrifié. En haut de la robe, inscription sur deux lignes délimitée par des filets. Absence d’autre décor. Anses moulurées.

Historique :	La cloche a été fondue en 1661 sur commande des consuls de Bruniquel pour être installée sur le beffroi de la porte Méjane, principal point d’accès à l’intérieur des remparts de la ville. La porte Méjane était également située tout à côté de la maison des consuls. Comme le rappelle l’inscription, cette cloche servait à rythmer la vie quotidienne des habitants du bourg. Il s’agit du seul exemplaire connu à ce jour d’une cloche civile d’Ancien Régime pour le département de Tarn-et-Garonne et l’une des rares de ce type en Occitanie. Il en existe plusieurs dans le département des Pyrénées-Orientales. De même, il n’existe actuellement aucune autre cloche repérée due au fondeur André Vullermé. Son nom indique une probable origine franc-comtoise ou suisse, ce qui amène à supposer le caractère itinérant de son activité de fondeur.
